China launched a Long March-4C rocket to place a new satellite in space Wednesday. The rocket blasted off at 7:44 a.m.(Beijing Time) at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China and soon sent the L-SAR 01A satellite into preset orbit.
北京时间1月26日7时44分，我国在酒泉卫星发射中心用长征四号丙运载火箭，成功将L-SAR 01组A星（陆地探测一号01组A星）发射升空。
The satellite will be used to monitor the geological environment, landslides and earthquakes.
该卫星主要用于对地质环境、山体滑坡、地震灾害等进行有效监测。
The mission marked the 407th flight of the Long March carrier rockets, said the launch center.

L-SAR 01组卫星，即陆地探测一号01组卫星(L波段差分干涉合成孔径雷达卫星) ，是《国家民用空间基础设施中长期发展规划(2015-2025年)》中的科研卫星，由A、B星组成【a satellite group composed of two satellites (L-SAR 01A and L-SAR 01B)】，运行于约600千米高度的准太阳同步轨道（designed to be put in an orbit at an altitude of 600 km）。双星均配置L波段合成孔径雷达(SAR)载荷，具备多种成像模式，最高分辨率（resolution）3米，最大观测幅宽可达400公里。将充分利用L波段雷达波长长，在植被区具有穿透能力的特性，可为解决条件复杂、地面调查难以到达地区的灾害隐患早期识别,提供覆盖范围广（wide coverage）、测量点密度大、重复观测频率高的长波合成孔径雷达数据。
The L-SAR satellite project will help reduce China's dependence on foreign data in fields such as geology, earthquake monitoring and emergency support, said the administration.
国家航天局称，该卫星工程将显著降低地质、地震、应急等行业对国外数据的依赖。
The L-SAR 01B is scheduled to be launched at the end of February.
L-SAR 01组B星计划2月底择机发射。
